The LC9s is a striker-fired pistol; its frame does not come with mainspring and hammer. Instead, the mainspring is placed in the slide, where it responds to the impact of the firing pin. The EC9s has fixed sights instead of the drift adjustable rear sight seen on the LC9 and LC9s. The blued finish on the slide was also replaced with a black-oxide finish. These changes allowed Ruger to offer the EC9s at a much more affordable price.
